EUTELSAT-9B

Eutelsat 9B , also called EDRS A , is a geostationary communications satellite that was built by Airbus Defense and Space (formerly EADS Astrium . It is scheduled to be placed at the orbital position of 9 degrees east longitude and will be operated by Eutelsat . The satellite will be based on the Eurostar-3000 platform and its life expectancy will be 15 years

Eutelsat is the acronym for European Telecommunications Satellite Organization. The French company is the third largest satellite operator in the world.
Eutelsat was founded in 1982 as a supranational organization, through a government agreement between the 26 European countries as an ESA satellite communication operator . The company's forerunner was called Interim Eutelsat . Eutelsat's headquarters are located in Paris . The Spanish company Abertis holds an 8.4% stake in Eutelsat, CDC Infrastructure of France (a subsidiary of Caisse des Depots et Consignations ) has a 26.15% stake, and China Investment Corporation (CIC) has a 7%. The remaining 58.45% is free float and traded on Euronext . The first Eutelsat satellites were theECS satellites that were renamed after a successful start to Eutelsat I.

Eutelsat currently operates a fleet of 31 satellites in geostationary orbit and as of March 31 , 2013 is transmitting more than 4,600 television channels to more than 200 million pay-TV homes across Europe , the Middle East and Africa . The group's satellites also provide fixed and mobile telephony services, corporate networks, broadband Internet service providers, maritime markets and in emerging markets.
