@CRJ900Pilot We are limiting ourselves to Steam for Early Access so we can minimize overhead of deploying to multiple platforms. This will let us just focus on getting out updates as quickly as possible. When the game is done, we will release on all platforms: Steam, iOS, and Android, and maybe the Mac App Store.
@ACEPILOT109 @SupremeDorian When you click on a part you get a popup that has an EXPLODE button. It was intended just for us for development and testing, but I think we're going to leave it in because it's too much fun. The size of the explosions are now based on what the part is and not necessarily how hard they hit the ground. Fuel tanks with RP-1 and monopropellant blow up nicely. Xenon gas is actually inert.....ie BORING!
@DerpPlane I'm not sure how much of the visual FX will make it on the iOS build. Those new iOS devices do surprise me with how fast they are, but I just wish Apple would give them more RAM!
Wow, look at those graphics! Those really held up well! That's back when I was learning how to 3D model in Blender. That animation took me like a week to make! I gave up 3D modeling and animation shortly after that...... :D
@MyMessage To be honest, we are still deciding on final names, but these are what are currently in the game: Smearth, Smoon, Smars, Smupiter, and Smuranus. We will likely change their names before release.
The results are in! We had 500 submissions, so I had to narrow things down a bit. I took the list and removed anyone who didn't have a PC or a Mac (not sure why they submitted) and that knocked the list down to 479.
.
Then I put everyone in a Google sheet and gave everyone one "point." Then I gave out additional bonus points like this:
+1 if you got the question right about engines
+1 If you were in the first 100 to sign-up
+1 If you have a SimplePlanes.com account
+1 If you have over 1000 points on SimplePlanes.com
Then I went down the list and rolled a 32-sided die. Not really, I just had Google sheets pick a random number. If it rolled <= to your total points, then you got in the beta. Otherwise, sorry, you're out of luck.
.
That resulted in 37 winners. Here they are:
@SupremeDorian I might increase the number of testers. Also, I might give a slight probability bonus to those who signed up early and another bonus to SP players.
@mjdfx150529 It's okay. I don't mind. I can't keep up with the comments anymore so I stopped trying, but I am glad to see that players are excited about the beta! :)
Thanks, but this isn't applicable to SR2. The atmosphere rendering is very complicated in SR2. We would love to add clouds at some point, but it's quite challenging.
I'll post a video of the consumption of black licorice in the next week or so....
+14 6.1 years ago@Sharandeep981 nuclear engines won't make the initial release, but I would like to add one of those eventually.

Why don't you have Steam? It's great!
+4 6.1 years ago@Chancey21 I agree! There are still a million little things to tidy up like that. Getting ready for release is total chaos.
+1 6.1 years ago@SupremeDorian Early Access price will be $14.99. After we finish Early Access, we plan to raise the price to about $19.99.
+1 6.1 years ago@JoshuaW Heading Lock is your friend. I think it's easier to fly a rocket than a plane with heading lock.
6.1 years ago@Maximum777 We are planning to start working on the SimplePlanes 1.8 update early next year.
+2 6.1 years ago@WeSeekANARCHY Unfortunately not. This is a 64-bit game :(
6.1 years ago@MyMessage 8AM CST on November 8th.
+2 6.1 years ago@MrShadow SR2 will cost $14.99 on Steam (PC/Mac).
6.1 years ago@SpaceKraken Yes, we do plan to add air-breathing jet engines at some point.
+4 6.1 years ago@czenon1 @Kentheman iOS and Android version is coming next year.
+4 6.1 years ago@MLGSwagPilot Thanks for the kind words and thanks for playing our games! Also, I have given you your signup bonus.
6.1 years ago@BaconAircraft That video is amazing and so is your Proton-M. I do feel bad about blowing it up so much recently. But not really.

+1 6.1 years ago@TurboSnail Which phrase? Rapid unscheduled disassembly? It's been around for a long time.
6.1 years ago@tsampoy Yep, there are still currently explosions in space. If you have heat damage enabled then your craft can blow up on re-entry too.
6.1 years ago@DerpPlane I'm not sure how much of the visual FX will make it on the iOS build. Those new iOS devices do surprise me with how fast they are, but I just wish Apple would give them more RAM!
+2 6.1 years agoWe've been having some connection issues recently with the site, so the request probably failed. I'll try and take a look at this next week.
6.1 years ago@kerothehero Not too bad. It's very manageable at this point.
6.1 years agoWe are at 200 now.
+2 6.1 years agoI have increased it to 20k characters. That's as large as we can make it for now.
6.1 years agoI have limited the length of posts to 10k characters. Sorry for the inconvenience.
6.1 years ago@SupremeDorian I think it was trying to tell me that I needed to start working on SR2.

+3 6.1 years ago@NazyaMilitare That won't be until next year. I've proven that I'm terrible at estimating, so I won't even venture a guess.
+1 6.1 years ago@Mod I saw your submission! @HellFireKoder also submitted one....

+7 6.1 years ago@mjdfx150529 It's okay. I don't mind. I can't keep up with the comments anymore so I stopped trying, but I am glad to see that players are excited about the beta! :)
6.1 years agoI pushed back the date to Friday so we can (hopefully) get a new release ready before adding more players to the beta test.
+7 6.2 years ago@XjayIndustrys ha! Thanks, but I will buy my own licorice!
+1 6.2 years ago@dootdootbananabus We're just working on PC/Mac right now. Android and iOS will be next year.
6.2 years ago@Exospaceman The beta is run through SimpleRockets.com not Steam.
6.2 years ago@SupremeDorian Yes, there are quite a few quality settings that can be adjusted to help improve performance.
+1 6.2 years agoPlease, if you become a beta tester, don't record and post videos of the game yet. Thanks for asking, @DrCoconut1245 :)
+4 6.2 years ago@Skywalket Yes, I've never run a beta quite like this before so I'm not comfortable running an open beta.
+6 6.2 years ago@Mod I agree! That pencil is sharp!
+2 6.2 years ago@Skywalket I think it's floating around in the ocean somewhere....I can never find it.
+2 6.2 years ago@AstronautPlanes You have to have the 100 points when you initially sign up on SimpleRockets.com
6.2 years ago@matkag5 Definitely won't be Oct 1st. Late October is more likely. Also, maybe November. It is starting to smell like liquorice...
+3 6.2 years ago@Caveman999 yep, we are using Rewired for handling controls, just like we did with SP, so it should work the same.
6.2 years agoYou can bind pitch, roll, and yaw to a joystick, if that is what you are asking.
6.2 years agoThanks, but this isn't applicable to SR2. The atmosphere rendering is very complicated in SR2. We would love to add clouds at some point, but it's quite challenging.
+6 6.2 years agoYep, we still don't allow it. Maybe someday.
+3 6.2 years ago@tsampoy We plan to release on Steam Early Access for PC/Mac in October.
6.2 years ago@Jaker2902 No, we are shooting for next year for the mobile release.
6.2 years ago@Nooneoone Flying through gas giants is ill-advised. They will destroy your craft below a certain altitude.
6.2 years ago@Nooneoone Awesome! Thanks for the feedback :)
