EDIT
It's been a month since we announced Parallax, since then a lot of progress has been made in its development (this may not come as a surprise to whoever is in the Complex Rockets mod dev server).
As a showcase of what is to come, here you can see the level of detail that Linx has managed to achieve in the savanna biome
How the interaction with the rock colliders will make exploring other moons and planets more intricate
And how vast the forests can get
Original Post
Those that watched Cameron's stream may have noticed I mentioned we were doing a collaboration with a KSP modder. Well, after months of work and for those that may have not deduced what is going on from what we have been adding in the changelog, we are finally ready to spill the beans!
You may have heard of Linx, the creator of one of the most, if not the most, insane KSP mod: Parallax 2. He has been recently working on a port of the mod for JNO, adapting it to our Mod API and doing some insane optimizations to get it to run as smooth as it gets.
This mod will be available soon for everyone with a good enough PC to enjoy driving and flying around rocks and foliage of all sorts in the stock system, and will support custom configs for you to add support for your custom planets and moons. This, combined with some of the changes coming in 1.2, aims to overhaul the visual appeal of JNO to hopefully bring the joy of the Droods to a larger audience.
Just in case it wasn't clear enough, this is a mod, so it'll only be available on PC.
Lucky.. I used to play on mobile but I am PC
I can't help but ask if it wouldn't be possible to just copy the mod files and just kind of paste it on the mobile version.
Please somebody give me an explanation of how it would or wouldn't be possible.
@Starspace Mate it's just not available in mobile, and there are reasons for that
@Pedro I want play it on mobile.
I'm not an expert on coding but wouldn't it be possible to just copy and paste the "code files" on mobile?
(I don't really know how things work though)
@Dyeraerospace mods aren't normally available on mobile (this applies to all games, not just JNO) due to various reasons, which i won't explain since it takes a while to do so
@Dyeraerospace the fuck
@Dyeraerospace it doesn't
@kananesgi Ohh, I took a coding class and they said, "{}", are called brackets. Thanks for that info!
@JanusSpaceIndustries @Suspaceius Actually, those are called "braces" {} (or "curly brackets" sometimes, but they are properly called Braces). Brackets are the other character on that same key (on a standard American English KB, at least), the [ ]. Just dropping a little typography science...
@Suspaceius 14 days later
@JanusSpaceIndustries thx for the info
@Suspaceius Oh ok, by the way, you call these characters, "{}", brackets.
@Suspaceius i copy pasted it and set the parralax between {}
@JanusSpaceIndustries As you may have already seen, we have been collaborating with Linx to help him port his KSP mod "Parallax" into JNO. The mod is about to be released and we felt like we couldn't miss this opportunity to bring some very necessary visual enhancements to the game.
The two main areas where we have focused are the rocket engine exhausts and the procedural wings but there are more changes and improvements you can find in the Release Notes, and some extra things coming as we progress in this update's beta testing.
This update is going to be in beta testing for a couple weeks, and if everything goes well we should be looking at a public release in mid-late September, and a mobile release in early October. {And for everyone wondering, Parallax will be coming out next week.}
@Suspaceius Well, where did you get that information?
@JanusSpaceIndustries Parallax will be coming out next week. 10 days
ago
its this eek but when
@Suspaceius They are not going to release it any time this week (I think). They explained in the newer forum about the release date. If all goes well, they said they can release at mid-late September, and for the mobile release, early October. I hope that helps!
@Pedro are you gonna release it today
@SunlitHaddock14 They said the are releasing it soon. I think in about a week because I think they said they are almost done.
AMAGAD A WANA PLAY THAS ALRADAY :(
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
@JanusSpaceIndustries And so you did. :-)
@RichGWall gotcha
@JanusSpaceIndustries I wouldn't know. For some maybe. Marriage and/or kids is not for everyone. It's probably best not to try to be someone you are not.
The joke I was trying to make is that if you can keep your woman happy then you can afford to have both a PC and an Android. Problem solved. And trying to squeeze PC software on to a more limited phone environment makes no sense. Apples and Oranges, no pun intended.
