btw, did anyone hear about a chinese group called space pioneer? Scott Manley told something about using coal as delivery for another kind of fuel for rockets. Future is coming ;)
13 k costs a plane, 7 k bucks should be ok for the box that holds the payload in the center of mass at the plane, I believe. 20 k is ok for a flying transport :)
the point is: you will always need something to design that you can use for transporting payload, so you have to invest 75 points in the rocket tree: "check your staging" and "overcomplicating things" - with that you are able to hold and deliver that payload, a slow flying plane could do this better I think, than our rover. Price should be 20.000 bucks not much more.
@mundindel thank you :-)
I am not so far - began a new career with a special roleplay: "every mission has to be accepted and fullfilled before going on". That is a little bit frustrating somehow because it takes a long time to make correct decisions, when beginning in the RC section, I will upload that crane and the fat rover, but they are too simple, it is more a study, how to solve special problems, they are NOT perfect - the rover there misses the ABS option. And the crane is no fun to drive, i'd say this vehicle is my worst career object but it helped finishing that special contract, that made me really angry, because of that platform that was too high for the wheels to enter. Better idea: quadrocopter or a special slow moving flying saucer. The smallest electro motor is quiet capable for making cool vehicles, that is the best way. But I was too much interested in cars & rovers, my fault ;-)
Hi jonstorm, I think you are way more successfull than me in any way, but maybe this little information helps a bit? I got contact to Evelyn Shotwell. This contact was delivered when riding fast grounded at about 111 m/s. She gave me a contract for observing the bayside of DSC 950 km far away from village town.
Fascinating Spock would say. You have nailed everything correct and it is true, it is real hard to make a rover work and you want to travel safe. I made some invstigations on the RC side, because I believe first you have to learn how to move on Droo before you start firing rockets into the sky, this is the more easy way to make the career, but RC is quiet different.
point to consider: the more mass your rover has the more stable it will be, I made a 6 tons rover investigation just for my personal interest yesterday: that made the 125 kilometers durability contest without any steering, just moving at about 20-30 m/s and on flat regions you can drive at a speed at 50 m/s and you can go out with the dog in that time, you will receive that 125 km contract without any serious problem because 6 tons make the vehicle stable, it will not jump in that way. To receive 6 tons you need to make the vehicle big: +- 10 meters length and the wheels about 5-6 meters wide, you should have the rover wheels at about 60 to 80 percent that you have a good grip.
and second thing: the mass middle should be as close to the ground as possible but consider that you have to have a fair distance to the ground when driving over steep hills. So you have to balance this problem - make a test drive parcours for finding the best fitting distance to the ground. I use long arms that move out of the body of the rover and between these long arms and the wheel you install a suspension, make it as long as possible to max the distance out! The wheel suspension I would cancel, you do not need two suspensions on one wheel. Advantage of suspensions like this: you see exactly the movement of the wheel in relation to the car body. You could choose a 6 wheeler with suspension but I believe this is not cheap ! More realistic is a 4wheeler that has a lite torque on all of the 4 wheels so that you can move very precise hill up and hill down....
my last advise. For riding downhill with lots of mass you need precise movement, as I told before. So you can reduce the velocity very nice when descending, by installing an ABS system to your rover. This helps you in emergency case traveling extremly secure over mountains. Open vizzy and make an ABS program like that:
on start
while true
if velocity surface >= 21 then
set brake to 1
if velocity surface < 21 then
set brake to 0
I wish you good luck on Droo.
PS: the cargo is a special problem. The first cargo contract you need to mak a solid hole in your rover that can be closed on the top and on the bottom, this is a design problem, you need to craft/build a cargo room and with a "side interstage" (check techtree points 50 for overcomplicating things) you can blast or open the bottom to leave the cargo on the designated place. This will not help in any way because there is a contract where you need to move on a platform that is way too high so I made an "excavator" with a long Arm that can flip that cargo on that designated place. Be careful with long arms because this leeds to instability problems.... design it simple :)
You are in career mode - maybe this helps: I got contact to Evelyn Shotwell. This contact was delivered when riding fast grounded at about 111 m/s. She gave me a cobtract for observing DSC 950 km far away from village town. But this event unlocks first the bayside on DSC, but this bayside is only a stone's throw away and you can use your submarine for further investigations.
For the moment I use career mode the hard way, fiddeling with planes & rovers but while driving secure in lowest atmosphere's homeplanet Droo my eyes always wondering, went to the stars, asking if there is maybe life (multiplayer?) and another unknown galaxy, some crazy people call this unknown system far away "solar and earth", I dont know... what the heck? I hope sometimes the administration will us deliver a bigger Drooniverse for delving in uncharted terretories. I woul d give an upvote but sorry I cant, mail system denies this and there is at the moment nobody that can help me. But I try to remember giving an upvote for your future plans
I saw this on the new falcon post, looks real fascinating to me, honestly I'd like to give an upvote but sorry I cant at the moment, my account is not working but I can read :)
I wanted to upvote your program but I voted too much I will return here and give you my promised upvote point, because you deserve this very much. This program is very very very (did I mention... VERY...) useful, because I am looking for a very long time for a gps guided system, that can be rolled out on any planet, so that you can use this system on your ATV, rover, that you can find home and whereever you want to go. For instance you need a test parcours for rovers to examine which one has the best configuration, which one will lose this contest, and you can make a better suspension on your car for other planets. It does not make sense to make anything with anything, you have to check first at Droo, before you make a high cost sensible working fright to Brigo e.g. e.g. e.g. .... so I may say thank you to your interesting project, maybe this helps my gps program for vehicles
I like this update. Well I do not use the rockets for now in carrer mode, I want to be realistic - I try to investigate Droo, I would love having a GPS system on Droo to make my rover better. Is this possible or just a crappy junk idea of me :D ?
tried to figure out some kind of ABS for cars when driving on planet but there seems to be missing some things like changing to max. speed when you do not need ABS, this is a bit frustrating, e.g. I need inputs for pitch while I am using pitch itself for controlling the surface velocity on dangerous surfaces like mountains.
on start
while true
if input pitch > 0
display "normal fast mover"
set Brake to 0
if input Pitch <=0 then
display #ABS#
if velocity Surface <= 9 then
set Brake to 0
if velocity Surface >= 10 then
set Brake to 1
what is missing here: I cant use pitch = 1 in the lower display ABS section because if I change this, then I will never enter this ABS-If then constuction again ;-/
But I want fast speed for e.g. low terrain and when moving over hills, there should a big limitation in speed. I tried several other solutions but cant find a proper one, maybe someone has an idea :)

1.7 years agowhen using a vector for navigating to a special position, how do I have to combine the arguments in vizzy, lets say I want to travel to
vec 25.598771291201491, -164.43858126922481, 10.760436299489811
Can vizzy navigate to that existing point automaticaly (it is a runway in campagne mode) with a rover? I am stuck here...
