@Tweedle_Aerospace Nice! Yeah, it took me a few hours to find it myself. Mostly cuz I was looking in the wrong area at first, but even once I knew where it was, it was still really hard to get close enough to see

@Tweedle_Aerospace so I went and checked, and I still have the old DSC in my game even after updating to 2.2. The exact coordinates are lat:0 long:39. Also I added my screenshots from just now

@Tweedle_Aerospace I think you're right about these particular pictures. I'll have to check again, but I'm pretty sure it's still there for me. It's not marked on the map and there's no launch site presaved to that location(I had to get there on my own and save a launch site just to get back easily).

I'm still working on specifics, but you might need to add the first orbital test flight of the Magellanic 1v0.4 dubbed "Testing...testing...1...2...3!" currently scheduled NET March 26 time TBD. This is of course dependant on our current round of static fires(more on that soon...). I'll update you with more confirmed info shortly

@Colinmayer1 no problem. It did the same thing to me a few times and I had to figure it out on my own which took forever

    3.7 years ago
  • Profile image

I could go on for days with specifics, but here's a few decent examples:

Many, many things behave differently in microgravity than they do on earth. Organic molecules combine in different ways(there's certain "rules" to organic chemistry like Homochirality that are nearly impossible to break without mg), proteins fold wrong(it's not good enough to just have the correct chemical formula, it needs to be arranged the right way too), living cells make strange adaptations(plant cells stop producing cell walls), etc. Spiders of the same species build completely different webs on the ISS than they do on earth. Plants grow at different rates and with completely different structures. Nano-scale 3d printing in microgravity simplifies the process greatly over that on earth(atoms and molecules can be moved around more easily among other things). As mentioned previously, cloned organs can be grown more easily as well. And there's a ton more that I can't even get into now.

it was also said that the best test experience in microgravity conditions could be given by suborbital flight. Is it true?

Not completely sure about that, but I'd guess it depends on the research you're doing. There's a ton of different methods to perform microgravity research, and none are necessarily better than the rest. Seriously, you could perform the research on a rollercoaster if it's designed right. But the more common methods include planes like the "Vomit Comet" and "Drop Towers" for most research purposes, however the test duration for these is very short compared to a suborbital rocket or something like the ISS.

I forgot to mention you need to be in the builder to rotate the wheels like stated

    3.7 years ago
  • Profile image

You have to rotate the wheels 90° along the same axis they rotate(spin). This will make them turn the correct way if you rotated them correctly. It might take a few corrections since the wheels might turn right when you want left, but then you just rotate them another 180° to fix that

@Tweedle_Aerospace Damn! I'm sorry about that. My parents didn't really care what I did as long as I didn't hurt someone or go jail. Plus I was the only one who was computer literate in my family, but if I wanted internet I had to go to a public library until I bought my first cell phone at 18. So I've never dealt with your situation other than knowing some friends who did. I thought you just couldn't download anything without parent approval, not that you couldn't use any app/website at all without their approval.
Yeah, I don't want you to get in trouble for something stupid so I guess just ignore my idea. At least until you can make that choice yourself. I know it's hard, but I'm sure your parents have your best interests in mind here.
Hopefully we'll figure out some way to relay messages or something. Maybe post important convos on this site only...idk

@GalaxyEye Great reporting! Looking forward to more! I'm also very interested in who makes it first.

I won't take a guess, however, as I'm currently biased due to my involvement with the current testing of the "True Reuse Falcon 9".

I will say that it's truly amazing that anyone at all has reached the point where true reuse is possible in this game and I can't wait for what's to come next!

I can’t since I don’t actually control what goes on and off my phone.

    Just do what I do:
1)Open a new tab in your web browser and go to discord.com.
2)Switch to "Desktop View" in your browser(it's usually a check-box in the upper right-hand corner menu next to the tabs menu)
3)Sign up for Discord and continue in the browser(ignore any pop-ups asking to install the app)
If you don't want to have to switch to desktop view every time, just leave the tab open in the browser.
This is what I do if possible(anything with a desktop site and not app only) to conserve my phone's limited memory space by not installing an app if I don't absolutely need to

Lollzzz. I failed at math sooo much because I simply didn't want to take 10 extra steps to "show my work" when I got the correct answer in 2-3 steps(that and I challenged myself to do mental math as much as possible, so it really pissed off my math teachers to see only the initial set-up and final answer without anything in between)

    @Tweedle_Aerospace

It things that are less dense will always try and go up. Same reason why hot air rises. So it is possible although I don’t think the game simulates that.

Yes. Like a blimp or hot air balloon. Theoretically a vacuum filled dirigible would float on a dense enough atmosphere like a boat on the water, and even an earth-atmosphere filled dirigible could float like a helium balloon in a dense enough atmosphere.

As far as the game goes, I'm not too sure what's going on. It might be some sort of atmospheric buoyancy simulation effect. It might just as likely be a water buoyancy effect bug where the game thinks your craft is underwater and rising to the surface despite in fact not being underwater

Huh. I really didn't know that's how that works. Is there a guide to how the point system works? It took me about a week to figure out I needed 15 points to upvote posts, and I barely figured out how to get enough points from posting a video the other day.

@Chtite451SR2 I really didn't know that's how the encounter thing works. I always just brute forced it( I play with the burn node until it shows me the little explosion thing that means I'm gonna crash into the object and then adjust things as I get closer to my target)

I've been dealing with the same thing to an extent. I built a low quality starship to test the idea and basic aero, but it was hard to use the flaps properly as a control surface with my set-up. I'm not very good with vizzy so I never really figured it out on my own, but I did think of something that might work. If you set the flaps control(in the part properties tab of the designer) to pitch/roll then the autopilot should automatically control them the way intended(although I'm not sure since I haven't tested that yet). I also believe vizzy could control them in a similar fashion if set that way

@Chtite451SR2 well, I'm no expert, but it might have been for safety. There's some talk online about the possibility of valve failure in the vents during landing. If so, then the remaining fuel would cook off and increase the tank pressure making it unsafe to approach for any workers. Without a functioning pressure release, the safest thing to do is just blow it up. Which also burns off any remaining fuel in the process. I recall something about SpaceX installing a "self destruct" module the other day too, so it makes sense.

Also, it could've just been too much pressure like a dropped soda can. IDK

No, not really. I know it's high up on the list of things to add, but there's still no timeline on that yet. I do know some people have been working on a "mod"(I'm not sure if it's really a mod or just very extensive vizzy programming) though that adds a campaign mode of sorts to the game, but I'm not sure about how soon that'll be out, just that it's close to complete atm
