5 ideas i have right now:
- a planet that looks like it's artificially made (use value fractal noise) but is actually natural, can be any shape or color you want
- a neptune to saturn sized pale green gas giant with dark brown poles and rings that are very far out, and most of its moons are closer to the planet than the ring
- a small contact binary that could maybe be a moon of the gas giant above
- a super-earth terrestrial planet that is kinda habitable but is almost entirely covered in clouds (leave maybe a couple of sneak peek holes) and is also very foggy on the surface
- an oceanic moon that has completely dried up, leaving sand and rocks, maybe with a couple of protrusions where former islands used to be located (size is about that of Io, should have an atmosphere density of ~0.400 kg/m^3)
@Monkey13 oh yeah lol my bad
i'm planning on making an extensive post about it eventually, hopefully with enough presence for someone to comment a working solution/fix
@CoolGuy124 it's not "secret", it's just that planet studio isn't fully mobile compatible so they made it only available through dev console for mobile so that there are less bugs and whatnot
Io and Europa look absolutely fire (ironically, for the former), though i think the height/steepness of the spikes on Callisto are a little too extreme but that's probably just me
my technique is to use the fog shader on the atmosphere, and set the scale height to a high number (like, 50) so it covers the whole surface then increase brightness/intensity as needed
it looks fairly realistic this way, but the only downside is that you visually won't be able to see any patterns on the surface though you'll still see them in the minimap
takes one glance at Hybrid mode looks at SV80 and all my other crazy stuff "I guess we were just getting started all this time. Physics had feared me for long, but... this update... oh man, things are going to get out of hand very very quickly. And this isn't even the full release. I'd say this definitely deserves a HEHE BOI."
i think you mean the "default" rotation period that is displayed on the site and when you first place a planet in the system editor...
you can change that in XML, it's located somewhere near the top if i remember correctly, however it's in some super weird unit that i have no idea how to convert into any standard format
@Ylias yeah, i've delayed the uploading of all my posts until the start of my local summer break (June 16) where i'll upload with my unpredictable "schedule" again, really it's just so i can focus on school and other games and whatnot
my biggest active project for now is, by far, Zenith Galaxy 2.0, it's basically completed too but i still need to do testing, debugging, de-crashing, and a bunch of photoshoots... aside from that, the VB Exostar Collection is the only thing that'll be able to surpass ZG2.0, but i might have to cancel it since the app i use to edit XML files of the game no longer wants the files or folders to show up since the 1.0 update, so yeah...
i am not a professional by any means, but really all i can suggest is that you start off lightly and don't stress your body since it probably needs time to adapt, and only later go on with more intensity, otherwise just refer to other much smarter users in the comments
in theory the two inner planets do have their own songs, or at least were planned to have them; if you check any planet file there should be a music choice parameter, and there seem to be two unused ones, "Lake of Fire" for planets made with lava template (and Vulco too), and "Venusian World" for planets made with the venusian template (and thus Sergeaa as well)
and yeah, i love the Cylero theme too, alongside the gas giant theme, especially the high-speed variants, those retro pixel-like sounds in the Cylero theme and that deep "dodododok" sound for the gas giant theme, it makes these songs way more awesome
Screw this, I'm going to buy JUNO: YELLOWHITE (C)(R)(TM) from my trusted Black UFO Market seller for a subscription price of 532 Detruncated Icosahedrons (DTIS) per lateral parsec-time-frame, to restore the glory of our star from a puny lame blue dwarf back to our original G dwarf, and sooner or later I shall make my own JUNO: QUASARNOVA (C)(R)(TM)(RS)(Z)(X)(GX) to turn Juno into an even better quasar system! Bow before me, mortal peasant carbon-based beings!! Your superior Lord and Master, our Glorious Diswarped Non-Gamma-Compliant Polonium-Ytterbium-based Lifeforms, will prevail! Wait, is that a- NOOOOOOOOO ITS ZAENITTO COMING WITH THE HAIPARSPIDO-*static*
all jokes 'n' memes aside, happy april fools y'all :)
what happened to the Unity Analytics thing? it was said that we could disable it in-game and we would get a message about it, but i don't see the toggle for it anywhere in settings and have never gotten any message about it in-game since i got the update
there's an issue i've had with SimpleEdit that i've been wanting to post about for ages but never got around to doing it, thanks for the reminder i guess lol
what you may be looking for is the "undo launch" button, when you're in the pause menu hit the button that you would normally do to exit, but instead go to "retry/undo" (should be the middle one), and after that click "undo flight" (should be on the right) which will basically remove the craft and revert time to when launched, as well as being you to the designer or main menu (depending on if you launched it from menu or from designer obviously)
i'd say draw the fundamental shape of the continent at first, with a large brush at like 40-70% hardness, once you're done with that, get a smaller brush with 60-90% hardness to draw in the details on the edge and whatnot
and be sure to remember what your base/background/ocean color value was (in most cases its either 128 or 0) so that you can make indentations, gulfs, rivers, etc
as for the stuff not showing up, yeah that's been a bug for a while, i usually suffer with there being very obvious seams between the 6 "sides" of the drawn stuff, which looks super goofy (and is the main reason why i don't use the planet brush too often)
also, how does one get out of a price-softlock? i had to get rid of my first career save because i had gotten broke and literally nothing i had available would be able to fit the ~5k budget, not to mention that you don't earn anything when you're in debt
i wish we were able to put landmarks on our own custom-made planets but i checked and we sadly can't, oh well, we'll probably be able to do it once we get custom careers
i do have a legit copy on my ipad, so i should be a bit safer since i did give them money still, but, as i said, as soon as i find a legit non-Steam PC version i'll buy it full price
@BeastHunter
honestly i only really made it so different from traditional scifi stuff is because i'm fed up with every scifi military using naval names for space-related stuff when the two are completely different, like you can't just compare a spacecraft to a battleship (same reason why i use "spacecraft" over "spaceship" in most cases), because while yes the two may have similar sizes and weights but even then they control nothing like eachother, so that's why when the lore becomes more developed i'll make my custom exclusive space-military ranking and vehicle classes when i have the time and resources lol
@Wenhop
large fuel tanks do that too, obviously it is overflowing the integer limit
but hey, who cares, free money from launching rockets because taxpayers are so impressed by the sheer chonkiness! :D
carbon fibre is love, carbon fibre is life
memes aside, you should definitely add carbon fibre to your fanmade list, having extremely high costs but also being very lightweight, strong, and having good heat tolerance

can you give us more detail on the system? we could better know what kinds of planets to make that way

@Monkey13 what progress?
+1 1.4 years ago@TheMakerOfThings aight
+1 1.4 years ago@PlanetFloof alright, i'll post unlisted and tag you on it soon
+1 1.4 years agoedit: just did
@Pedro ah, nice, i expected that to be the case so i guess i was right about my assumption
+1 1.4 years agoextra congratulations to them :)
ayy nice congrats to y'all
+1 1.4 years agoi wonder what happens to the one who made the "BIG BLUE MEN" one, since it got 2nd in upvotes and 1st in creativity
@FoxtrotTheSergal same
+1 1.4 years ago@CoolGuy124 it's not "secret", it's just that planet studio isn't fully mobile compatible so they made it only available through dev console for mobile so that there are less bugs and whatnot
+1 1.4 years agoah, so that's why you were absent
+1 1.4 years agocan't wait for the new stuff
Io and Europa look absolutely fire (ironically, for the former), though i think the height/steepness of the spikes on Callisto are a little too extreme but that's probably just me
+1 1.4 years agohere's a link for anyone interested though you can easily change it yourself via XML
+1 1.5 years ago@Wenhop ah, okey then

as far as i remember, vizzy does have rad-to-deg and deg-to-rad converters so you could use those i guess
+1 1.5 years agohell yes, do it, i'd love to see how you'll make the other planets
