@Willsm380 it's definitely an option for those landmarks.
I meant the other planetary and moon landmarks.
You will come home with 200-500 tech points each trip.
Ya man, the space contracts offer by far the most tech points and cash flow.
You can break the game if you sneak a rover in your rocket to accumulate land distance tech points on top of stacking fly bys, landings and land marks.
Make a sandbox full of bases and space stations that are full of traps.
Build crafts that's are autonomous and attack anything.
Then let others try to destroy that world without dying once.
There's your PvP
I found the rocket contracts way easier.
I unlocked all my tech points and nearly every steam award before I even tried Learning to Fly or the Sample Collection contracts.
I didn't even bother with the satellite contracts either.
Just flybys, orbits and landings.
Most money and most tech points found that way in my opinion.
Ya they are like a curse, delete them and they come back.

You can try Impulse and set it low enough that a walking drood can active it.
Might not work if it's set to the pushing craft as it gets impulses constantly.
I never tried the in game one but know for a fact that other fps counters say higher when in space. There's less information to process.
Try it on a 10,000 part craft.
No need for other crafts on map or they'll influence the fps.
Do you have an fps cap set to 30 somewhere?
Once in orbit after following the tutorial guides,
Go faster until you leave Droo orbit.
Then click on your trajectory line to create a node.
A node gives you directions to fly and will let you understand more about space flight mechanics.
If you're still lost, google space flight mechanics and school yourself on it.
Thats what I did.
If you can't go slow enough to make an air drop accurately,
I can assume that you could get away with making a lander you can drop from the plane.
Put the payload in a cargo bay with a commands chip and a few parachutes.
Slap an engine on the bottom for steering in case of a near miss drop.
Guide the drop yourself.
Note,
Put parachutes on the plane as well so it lands softly in the mountains and you can collect it's scrap costs
Most cells can not even download half of the crafts in this game let alone play with any amount of graphics.
I wish there was more too but it's been asked for dozens-hundreds of times for years and this is all we will get.
Cheapest rocket I was able to make was 200 million plus launch fee.
I saved the game anyway just to advance that contract line. Which was absolutely nothing... Oh except the new launch site I never use.
Not worth doing that contract because the rewards payout is too small and there is no contract afterwards from that girl.
Career mode isn't that advanced.
Just think of it as a bunch of contracts to build something that will do the job.
So far, the only difficulty is the time limits they introduce later on.
Some reasonable, others not.
@SamTheFox
We used to not be able to land on any gas giants. Never tried lately though.
Get too deep in its atmosphere and it would crush your ship.
It was probably just faster heat damage but it gave the proper effect of pressure damage.
Every time they give you a planetary landing, aim for a landmark at the same time to save on costs later
I don't think you even have to land safely for landmarks if it isn't specified.
Crash and get the tech points.
