@AndrewGarrison looking at the new update now I've seen some details that could be polished
- Merge some of the blocks to improve the flow of the designer
- Try different sorts for the blocks, especially in the Operators section
- set craft Pitch to X "degrees". "Degrees" is now redundant
- Add a "Name of" block to Craft Information to have self-name, self-planet, target-name, and target-planet instead of having them in different places
- Specify the sorting mode of the blocks that return a list
- Separate create list from
- Custom expressions and instructions can only add text and parameters and not remove them (I may be doing something wrong) and can't be edited
@Meltingvenus @huuminberd but the subroutine is in a parallel thread, so it both the main and the subroutine run simultaneously. You can force it to work like a function with some tricks, but I would use custom blocks instead for that now that we have them easily accessible
What you're trying to do is really complex, you need deep understanding of some math, physics and sr2 concepts before you can even approach such a program.
There are some already done self landing rockets, you should start by checking those and trying to understand how they work.
There are some things you can do:
- Use a wing. The control surfaces can use brake as input and they're easier to use than a hinge with another part attached to it
- Go to the tinker panel and check hidden properties, then you will have a lot more options in the input controllers
@Gn0m in mobile devices you need an external keyboard afaik, if you have the ipad keyboard go to settings and find the keybinding for the console (or set it to a key you want)
@LukeJ848 first you should post a bug report. Open the game and launch a craft that can reproduce your issue. Then in the menu you should see an option to report a bug, click on it and write a description as clear as possible about your issue.
Then ping me in the comments of the bug report.
@LukeJ848 then maybe it's an issue with the key bindings?
If not try assigning other thing to your roll keys, like throttle, to check if they work and the issue is in the game side
@crowxe The other crafts orbit has nothing to do with ESS, it may be a bug in SR2 and if you think they're too dark you can always change the game settings to increase brightness
@crowxe @Panthadroo you can have multiple programs in one craft (for example to control each engine independently without having to repeat the code every time, so you do it one and then duplicate the engine)
The broadcast serve to call chunks of code in the same program and broadcast to craft to send it to all programs in the craft
Having multiple chips is useful for parts that are going to be separated, a part without a crew cabin or chip is considered debris and will despawn after a while
@NoIDontWanna Not only circles but most curves, the smaller a orbit gets the easiest it is to notice the issue. If you play ESS and try to orbit Ilithos you can get really weird behaviours like the craft being locked around the planet in position
@AndrewGarrison would it be possible to have a expression that returns year, day, hour, minute, second, total ms?
Total ms being the amount of ms since the start of the sandbox.
@bspawn sorry to be 2 months late, you didn't ping me in the previous one.
I should've explained my point better reading back:
In the throat size slider you are changing the value between less than 100% and 100%. In real life you can achieve this by clogging the throat, for example making the walls thick to reduce the internal section, without any external change. The diameter of the throat section can be the max throat size plus the minimum wall thickness and changes to the throat size can keep the old throat section diameter and just increase the wall.
There are suggestions for both things. You can search for suggestions and vote them here
If you can't find the suggestion already there feel free to add a new one
I'm sure it is related to a lot of things. Some parts work differently, physics may be different too and you may have higher graphic settings in sr2 than sp.
For me the experience is the other way around. In my Pocophone sr2 runs better than in my laptop.
@AndrewGarrison maybe something like the subassembly folder but for custom instructions and expressions can come in handy. Doesn't really matter they don't update in all programs after changing things but can help reduce time when building things.
One custom expression I would like to have easy to access (and may even be an useful block for the stock options) is cap throttle to X twr (it's an easy thing to calculate but annoying to do it each time and may not be obvious for some users)
EDIT: To clarify, it is min of 100 and X*100*gravity*mass/maxThrust
@AnotherFireFox what matrix calculations do you need that can't be done now?
4.8 years ago@AnotherFireFox I wonder if it's possible to make a list of lists, that would be a matrice
4.8 years agoFor spacial matrices a list of vectors should work
@AnotherFireFox no, you have to make it show through xml, you can't just type it ingame
4.8 years ago@huuminberd You have to make it visible through xml, iirc Graal used that in some of the engines
4.8 years ago@huuminberd you can separate throttle per engine relatively easy just by using variables as inputs
4.8 years agoMaybe it's just something to do with the joysticks, that may be configurable in the key bindings

@huuminberd yup, exactly that

4.8 years ago@huuminberd I have a 700€ laptop and the game runs smoother in my 300€ phone
4.9 years ago@AndrewGarrison oh so there's more still to be shown :O
4.9 years agoAny chance force load and broadcast to other crafts will be added?
Amazing as always :)
+2 4.9 years ago@22zxSnakeEyes nah, np, scaling it takes less than 1 sec
4.9 years agoWhat you're trying to do is really complex, you need deep understanding of some math, physics and sr2 concepts before you can even approach such a program.
4.9 years agoThere are some already done self landing rockets, you should start by checking those and trying to understand how they work.
Not sure why you've posted this twice, but there's a suggestion more than 1 year old and a lot more related suggestions
4.9 years agoWhat is it going to be?
+1 4.9 years agoThere are some things you can do:
+2 4.9 years ago- Use a wing. The control surfaces can use brake as input and they're easier to use than a hinge with another part attached to it
- Go to the tinker panel and check hidden properties, then you will have a lot more options in the input controllers
In mobile you can save this engines as subassemblies. They have 0 consumption
+1 4.9 years ago@Chtite451SR2 in the game itself you should see a button that says report a bug
4.9 years ago@LukeJ848 I was testing it right now hahahaha
4.9 years ago@Chtite451SR2 you should submit a bug report
4.9 years ago@Gn0m instead of a change in speed check for a decrease in MaxEngineThrust example
4.9 years ago@Gn0m in mobile devices you need an external keyboard afaik, if you have the ipad keyboard go to settings and find the keybinding for the console (or set it to a key you want)

@SiriusK it is, we may upload a tutorial on how to migrate to the new system when it comes out
4.9 years ago@LukeJ848 np, good luck
4.9 years ago@LukeJ848 then maybe it's an issue with the key bindings?
4.9 years agoIf not try assigning other thing to your roll keys, like throttle, to check if they work and the issue is in the game side
You have to unlock direction to roll with a plane
4.9 years ago@zzazza this can be a misleading answer since in the first beta and in the published version some units changed
4.9 years ago@Lounes2001 it is in Android
+2 4.9 years agoHere is a suggestion that includes them and a couple more engine types
4.9 years ago@crowxe if the issue persist you can submit a bug report
+2 4.9 years ago@crowxe The other crafts orbit has nothing to do with ESS, it may be a bug in SR2 and if you think they're too dark you can always change the game settings to increase brightness

4.9 years agocause here I come
4.9 years ago@crowxe @Panthadroo there's this suggestion
4.9 years ago@Panthadroo you may be interested in this suggestion
+2 4.9 years ago@NoIDontWanna Not only circles but most curves, the smaller a orbit gets the easiest it is to notice the issue. If you play ESS and try to orbit Ilithos you can get really weird behaviours like the craft being locked around the planet in position
4.9 years ago@SupremeDorian don't think so sadly but you can still send a broadcast to turn on the other program just before separation
4.9 years ago@Nethereal here
4.9 years ago@AndrewGarrison should I make suggestion posts for all the things I suggested in comments in the past to have them listed?
