@Yyyyyyyyt post a picture (not easy here though 😆)
gyro is not needed. make it look like a WWII airplane, check control surfaces.
at 130 m/s even bar stool should fly. you seem to have a fundamental issue, but hard to guess

I'm a bit behind you, but my observation is that story line contracts occur randomly, and do have hidden requirements, like certain tech node or other contracts fulfillment. The rule of thumb would be to do at least one of each uniquely named contract, sequential rounds counted individually.
Can you post what you have right now ?

@Insanity 👍 that's for sure, although different level of tech and budget.
BTW tried orbital plane with detachable booster - $200K, missed by 200 km and burned on reentry 😆

@brause OK, I guess you're right about technology in this context. although it was an eye opening discovery, that the crate needs a space-grade cargo bay for simple surface delivery.
quite neat that you came up with 20K slow flyer - that's exactly what I've got finally, 20K jet glider and 1K drop pod

@brause there's another thread I've started for Research Station Supply mission:
    Research Station Supply
there are couple solutions, including large scale quadrocopter.
but any rotary craft is out of scope of this mission I think, because neither tech, nor budgets are there yet

    1. Open in-game menu, there's a screenshot option, snap it. When posting your craft, there are 2 options for the images - take screenshot (camera), and use existing one (folder). You need the latter one.
    2. You need to define which features you're looking for, as everyone has his own definition of "bland"

@TomKerbal 😆 The twin paradox is not a paradox, and has clear explanation. Key word - acceleration (or perceived gravity which is equivalent).
Unruh effect is only significant for extremely high accelerations which no physical body can sustain anyway. Space gas friction and blue shift would be incomparably worse problems.
As for the deep space travel, there's a paradox (forgot the name), that at long travel distances, newer rockets launched later will pass older ones launched earlier, hence there's no point of flying to the stars unless the technology is already advanced enough.

    It's a slippery topic 😁
Long story short, it all depends on the observer's POV:
    - for the traveler, there's no speed limit and no relativity effects, plain Newtonian physics, and you can be flying faster than speed of light, measured over your local clock;
    - for the external observer however, it will look like traveler's speed is asymptotically coming close to speed of light, and all relativity effects are in place (inertial vs gravitational mass shift, dimensional distortion, etc.).
For simplicity, it can be said that traveler's time observed externally starts slowing down during acceleration, hence all relativity effects. But locally, it won't be sensible.
So in terms of simulated high-speed flight, all local processes should stay linear, only global time will accelerate in reverse proportion to the gravitational time dilation formula.

Same here. Single test was enough reason to shelf it.
Solar panels are quite efficient though.

@CloakPin that may be an option if there's a surface path, and if it can walk in given direction while you're doing other missions 🤔

@Insanity it was about 400 km, ~30 min on x3 time warp - totally reasonable given nearly 100% chance of success.
wondering what's the supposed solution. ballistic missile carrying a little jet ? Because next mission is over 1000 km away, and it's on the island

just thinking aloud, another option - an airplane with a cargo bay in the nose with high enough main landing gear - land, overhang the nose over the platform, open the bay. maybe will test next time

@CloakPin man, it's using vizzy and half of the tech tree, where many nodes I didn't even open yet 😆. remember it was about 10th contract in the branch, within ~250 TP total and 50K budget.
anyway, managed to finish it on updated jet glider, but this time - using a detachable pod with parachute. total budget around 20K, but technology-wise, I think it's more demanding than it should be (parachute + small bay + side interstage), also looks bulky and inefficient - 80kg pod for 20kg box.
wondering what was the mission designer's original plan, because I think there should be a better solution

@CloakPin alright, just got this mission again. what did you use for air drop ?
I tried a jet powered glider, ~, the box predictably explodes upon impact against the building (dropping into grass works OK though). but at least soaring in mountains turned out to be a highly satisfying process, so not a total waste

    @brause good input
I can build whatever right now (>2B in account), but trying to get the unspoiled sense of RC branch, by staying in contract budgets 😆. still applaud to your idea of a 6-ton
rover that just rolls over anything. do you have a picture of that suspension you mentioned ?
I start thinking about using Vizzy for some tweaks as well. BTW you know that Brake can be applied gradually, right ?
using interstage doesn't help, neither side one, nor cylindrical. you can attach the box in designer, but once mission starts, it detaches immediately.
how did you make an arm ?

air drop is definitely an option, although wondering what was the design idea for this scenario - is it supposed to be hacked like that, or should take an hour+ in repeated crawling attempts with nearly zero new knowledge / experience ? 🤨
so I just cancelled it, as payment doesn't matter, and it didn't look like a story line mission

@t4zcomz 👍 thanks for the answers
couldn't download your truck (the link says Download For Mobile, and just does nothing on a PC)

OK, managed to finish the mission. the box kept dropping through the floor made out of fuel tank. then I've replaced it with a flat strut, and what did the trick I think, was - not attaching the box to anchor point, but just placing it on the surface. it was bouncing a bit during the ride, but didn't go through the floor this time
