RCS, or Reaction Control System essentially works as an orientation device when there is no air available for the control surfaces to act upon, or when air is insufficient to make their control surfaces to move. However the more known use is to orient spacecrafts in space in a more precise manner compared to them main engines. Sometimes you want to finely control a craft, especially in docking.
The two operations of RCS in SR2 as far as I know are the regular and translation mode. In the regular, pitch is pitch, roll is roll, Yaw is Yaw. But in translation, the craft essentially keeps its bearings while it moves in an XYZ plane. Pitch becomes forward/backward, Roll is side to side, Yaw is up and down
To be honest, i didnt think i would win this contest due to it being too sci fi.
Design wise, i wanted it to have some cohesion with the helicopter I also built and uploaded. Somehow I thought that the sharp line along the fuselage would be aestheticcc af and incorporated it here along with the tail triangle thing, and here we are today with the accidental stealth cargo plane which i like the vibe
Practically speaking, my craft would fail badly due to the high part count. The replacing old planes part of the story i made is actually true. It looks bad aesthetically as i plan to use it in some photo op and i want to replace it. But if its too highbof a part count it would severely degrate the quality of the recording. I somehow though this would also affect the scoring despite it not being mentioned
Remember kids: its not a stealth bomber carrying world ending amounts of nukes, its just a simple(ish) cargo plane! Anyone who claims otherwise [Redacted for Brevity Reasons]
In the most basic possible terms:
Blue: “angle” of orbit if viewed top down
Green: how elongated said orbit is
Red: angle of orbit if viewed from the side
Apart from the sliding to the left, I also experience the same problems. But I think the reason is that the thrust isn’t sufficient enough to fly vertically.
.
You see, planes get lift. Which is obvious, but the lift helps reduce the apparent weight of the craft, which is beneficial if the thrust of the engine cannot lift the plane literally upwards. We push the plane sideways to get the upward force bigger using a relatively small force sideways
.
Rockets on the other hand, they have enough force to push everything up easily, so lift forces are now unnecessary.
.
SSTOs (I assume) should be built with a rocket-y characteristics, then just add wings. This way, you can take off with little thrust but can force yourself to orbit using the full potential of the thrust of your engine.
TL;DU/DR: make a rocket-ish craft then add wings. If taking off like a plane, use little thrust, then go crazy when getting into orbit
You aim Mainly using green and blue nodes. Green to get to there, blue to reassure “angle” of approach. Red is when the planet is not in the same angle (viewed sideways) to you.
A million kg to orbit. Anything that is exactly 1 million kg to be launched traditionally (rockets). If using fuel as weight, you cannot drain fuel from the weight. Bonus points if it crashes into a lunar base
I have perfectly centered the CoT and CoM but when the second stage is activated, the main thrusters of the shuttle seems to have an asymmetrical power distribution, I.e one of the four thrusters have a higher thrust level than the others @KraZIvan
I thought for some reason that the "CommandChip" part of the Input as its own thing kinda like the "FlightProgram" part. I did not know that "CommandChip" refers to the name of the part that contains the code, and that it also factors in the Space character. In the case of the Flanker, the command chip is literally named CommandChip. I removed the space that is in my command chip in my craft and it just works
@seventeen
What do I do to the vizzy part of the code? Right now its just a While loop setting the variable Rotator to whatever the sum of roll and pitch is. The input part of the Rotator part itself is currently "CommandChip.FlightProgram.Rotator". The rotator doesnt move when tested so I still have no idea what to do
I’m simply pitching in ideas for what would a theoretical space fighter would look like. Technically we can start with any shape, including the X-37 but I’ll start with a ball of RCN thrusters and mock up guns. @KraZIvan
For max randomness w/o bias: Do 5 rolls of dice. Add each number that appears. Count until either it matches your total number or it reaches the end, if that is the case, repeat from the right this time
Nah it’s fine. @Kell @PorkyClown3 SR2 was never intended to have weapons or war as stated by the devs (forgot who). This was just a hypothetical scenario that questions my current understanding of physics

Yes. But CLEARLY I’m not affiliated by them. Yeah. I’m not affiliated. Definitely don’t have a secret site. @KraZIvan

With this simple but revolutionary aspect, D bois gonna be introduced in SR2

+1 5.2 years agoThank you for that info! I didn’t even know that separators have a limited fuel transfer rate! @KraZIvan
+1 5.2 years agoMaybe you don’t have any fuel for it. Try enabling a fuel line of a fuel tank and switching said fuel tank’s fuel from whatever to monopropellant

Could you explain what this is?

I think they won’t add weapons. The rest would be awesome @Brields95

If referring to the the actual post, idk too
My rule of thumb: good looking crafts are proportional to the time it took to make and the number of parts it has
Rephrased: good craft = long time x part ount
