i made a quick build featuring some parts with stability modifier for those who want to have stability modifier on parts after updating but can't due to lacking mod support, they can just grab a part from there. (the rest is explained in the description of the thing)
@DarkDust great points tbh, i agree
on a relevant note, the thing that always bugged me is that unlike KSP we can't place down flags on planet surfaces which is kinda... sad i guess? it's possible to kind of recreate this by saving launch locations in sandbox mode, but ever since we got the ability to teleport our crafts to planets, that became a rather pointless thing to do
i've been wondering about this too, i think the main reason as to why it's unpopular is simply cause KSP is such a giant that it just completely overshadows it
i think making the game more user-friendly (more/better/detailed tutorials, sample crafts, etc.) would help a lot in keeping players, as few reach a skill level high enough to really appreciate this game or even openly praise it like i do (i do some very small, free, completely unofficial advertising for JNO on some game forums i'm on, and i really do think it's that good, it's basically my number 1 favourite video game)
however the lack of updates right now is probably what's causing it to be kinda "dead" at the moment (it is like that 99% of the time though), for now the devs are working on SimplePlanes 2 so it's understandable
however, i also think that if JNO gets popular enough to get its own Wikipedia page (needs to fulfil their notability criteria and whatnot) like SimplePlanes did, it'll be smooth(er) sailing from that point on
@Kaeya appropriate reaction tbh
and by that point it'll likely push 200+ planets since there will be some updates before that (and also because i can actually handle SR2 properly now, since i have a new ipad tho idk if i've ever told y'all lol)
these are just very rough guesses, but the yellow outlined one you can get by fiddling with fractal domainwarps (to make them long) and a mask noise (to filter where the mountains will appear), the red outlined one could probably be achieved by some kinda billow noise thing
aye, same here, i'm gonna remove them from mine in 1.6 (Mortan) and 2.0.1 (ZG2)
i literally only started the "trend" because of my obsession with F-Zero, where in the later games each racing vehicle had its own unique logo, and i thought that was cool so i copied it over to planet making, and then you and maybe a few others also decided to do it after seeing me do it (which is fine, don't get me weong)
but honestly the logos are such a hassle to make, they ruin otherwise clean-looking descriptions in the PS load planet menu (on the site they do look good) and overall were just kinda "tacky" imo
@MatTheAerospacer do you know what the song is called in the XML files? i know that the other songs have specific names (which don't match the soundtrack's title or planet name) that you gotta type into a part of the planet's XML file
@Ceya welp thanks lol
i'll most likely plan them out for Mortan 2.0 and some of the other systems i have (e.g. Worand) since i still have a lot to do; ZG with Parallax would be insane but that'd be a huge hassle for either of us due to the sheer number of celestial bodies
per chance, would it be possible for you, me, and others (e.g. Tallisar) to do a "collab" of sorts in the future where you add Parallax support to our planets based on our instructions (might be a big ask, but no pressure, just a thought i had)
also
"I was tired of RSS textures making up most of the texture files, and it took a long while just to scroll down enough to get to the textures I wanted." real, same deal here
in the hidden properties editor (accessible from tinker panel) there is a property of rocket engines called "heatTransferOverride", increase the value of that to make it hotter
@Tallisar i also really want to make a wiki for my stuff, but i have no idea what to use
i've heard of this "Obsidian" software before, but i'm not sure if it's what i need or not; FANDOM would be a good choice, but, for both personal reasons and the fact that it's buggy as hell, i don't wanna use it
oh hell yeah
now we got four worldbuilding projects that (at least somewhat) originated from SR2/JNO? (we got my Hypernova, Tallisar's lore with the Hyperants and stuff, Ceya's hard scifi lore, and now this too)
yo, a notification i got said you mentioned me on a post named "AtmosTest" or something like that, but that post (presumably a planet) got deleted so i couldn't see it
@PZLAgencies yeah it was painful, you're absolutely correct
i've decided that i'm never going to any summer camp ever again, i've already gotten a large chunk of my free time stolen from me anyways (man, i just wanna have the "break" part or "summer break", y'know?)
@SeeyaTheFurry k... y'all know i'm like 40 light years behind (i promise you guys, i'm totally not a Trappistan) so i have no clue what half of some of these words mean
@SeeyaTheFurry oof, sorry to hear that
meanwhile i'm still in huge burnout, it's gotten a bit better since the last one but i am sure that getting ZG2 (arguably the main cause of it) done will un-burn most of it... and man am i glad that i wrote down the basic plans of HN and HNML on my notes app because it means less of my already horrible memory is taken up lmao
@Isosceles51 yeah me too
when i have the time i wanna make some kinda PS tutorials, similar to JastroOne1's stuff but in text form, but i still have ZG2 to finish and i also wanna read 1984 in the summer 🫠
on the same menu there should be an "auto-fix" button which will try to, well, automatically fix it and update the parts
so far it has worked fine for me, it does state that it might alter craft behaviour so be aware of that
