Its difficult to say why exactly the game hasnt reached a wider audience, but an aspect that definitely plays a part into it is the fact that the game is quite deep, with a fairly steep learning curve. The procedural parts and powerful editor are great for making anything you could imagine but for the average player I can see how it could easily lead to an overwhelming and frustrating experience. Another aspect that has been mentioned by many ksp players specifically is that the game doesnt have the same "charm". And while in some sense that is a cop out answer for not liking the game because it doesnt look and play the exact way ksp does, there is some truth it. A large part of the game including ui, music, sfx and models do give off a certain cold sterile feeling and I can see that being a little offputing for some people. In short, some of the aspects that make the game great to begin with also have the side effect of limiting mainstream appeal (the way I see it).
@Skye93 first of all, the total cost for starship including r&d seems to be closer to $5b (which mind you was in large parts payed for by nasa), additionally sls worked perfectly and flew orion around the moon on its first flight, starship has yet to put a single kilogram of useful payload into orbit, so just going off the number of launches is super disingenuous, especially since the first 2 didnt even get close to orbit. Also the $2m price per launch for starship is completely delusional, even if every aspect worked perfectly, thats like the price for fuel alone. I think its very impressive what spacex has been able to achieve so far but the amount of unsolved problems and unproven tech that starship relies on makes it difficult for me to imagine that it should be used as a complete replacement for sls. Sure sls is expensive and expandable but it has been proven to work, which cant be said for starship. And dont even get me started on hls, launching 20 starships to land on the moon once is ridiculous.
If you mean camera on mfd then no you cant, It'd be really performance intesive as you'd have to draw the entire scene again from the pov of the camera
About a year ago i made a decent amount of progress on a mod like this but then got distracted by other things, recently I started working on it again though and I intend to release a basic version of it soon.
Well tank volume aswell as engine performance are worse than irl to better suit the smaller stock system, so if you want to make realistic replicas that perform the same you need to resort to tinkering or mods
@DrooMulticompany At the end of the day its still up to the devs to decide, also making a decision purely based on an internet poll doesnt seem like the best thing anyways
@Hashys "Hybrid engines don't even exist as far as I'm aware (I'm also quite sure it isn't really physically feasible)" bruh its literally actively being worked on lol
With the recent atmosphere changes it might be more viable to use jets to get to a higher altitude first and then switch to rocket engines for the rest of the ascend, typically methalox is quite nicely suited for that purpose as its a great balance between density and efficiency.

8 months agoTheres no indication it'll be abandoned, I'd say its pretty reasonable that they want to focus their efforts on sp2 atm
+3 9 months ago@Oman395 in my experience its not that bad you just use a vector plus an extra scalar variable for the w component
10 months agoYou definitely can, you'll just have to store them in normal variables/lists
11 months ago@Hazardist nope you'll have to check both ways with contains
11 months ago@SatelliteTorifune idk I'd just call it life support systems but ig that is a bit boring
11 months agoGreat idea, but I wouldnt call it droodism, sounds too much like a disorder lol
